SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Emma Grier of Springfield, who passed away on May 11, 2008; and

WHEREAS, She was born October 22, 1922, in Russell County, Alabama, the daughter of the late George and Emma Walton; and

WHEREAS, She was united in marriage to Willie Grier Sr. on December 3, 1936; to this union were born five sons and five daughters; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Grier Sr.; her sons, Willie II, Vincent, and Quentin; her five brothers; and a great grandson; and

WHEREAS, She leaves to cherish precious memories, her two sons, Johnny (Kitty) Grier and Mark (Audrey) Grier; her five daughters, Shirley Foster, JoAnn Daugherty, Jacqueline (Joseph) Grier-Fluellen, Sherry (Robert) Williams, and Juanita Grier; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, dear friends, and special neighbors; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Emma Grier; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Emma Grier as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
