SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rick Shoger of Edwardsville, who passed away on April 2, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Rick Shoger was born on November 11, 1947 in El Dorado, Kansas; his parents were Noel and Peggy Lyons Shoger; and

WHEREAS, Rick Shoger graduated with a master's degree from Kansas State University and was a Certified Public Accountant; and

WHEREAS, Rick Shoger was the President and Chairman of the Board for Madison Mutual Insurance Company; he had been employed with Madison Mutual Insurance Company since June 16, 1980; in October of 1981, he was elected Vice President of the company and appointed to the Board of Directors; in March of 1983, he was elected Vice President and Assistant Secretary of Madison Mutual; in March of 1994, he was elected President and Treasurer; he was elected Chairman of the Board in March of 2004; prior to joining Madison Mutual, he was employed by Coopers & Lybrand as an auditor; and

WHEREAS, Rick Shoger was a YMCA Board Member, Treasurer of the EGHM Edwardsville School District No. 7 Foundation, Treasurer of the Edwardsville Rotary Club, and Past Trustee of the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC); he was a member and served on the Board of Directors for the Sunset Hills Country Club; and

WHEREAS, Rick Shoger was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Rick Shoger is survived by his son, Ryan D. Shoger; his daughters, Nicole M. and husband Kiley Cirillo and Ashley L. Shoger; his grandchild, Kale Cirillo; his brother, Darrel and wife Kathy Shoger; and his sister, Bonnie Mannes; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Rick Shoger; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rick Shoger as an expression of our sympathy.
