SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy (Martin) Foder of West Frankfort, who passed away on March 27, 2008; and

WHEREAS, She was born March 2, 1948, in Roswell, New Mexico, to Captain John Robert Martin and Virginia Wilkinson; she married Anthony P. Foder on September 7, 1968, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in West Frankfort; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Foder graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 1971 and immediately began teaching in the West Frankfort school system; at CJHS she taught literature and English from 1973 to 1995 and physical education from 1996 to 2005, when she retired; she was loved and respected by both peers and students; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Foder was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for 32 years; for the past 20 years, she and her sisters of Xi Alpha Pi had many special memories; she was lectern at St. John the Baptist Church for several years; she was a tremendous supporter of the Redbirds and a member of the Redbird Booster Club; she was also a supporter of the Special Olympics, where she trained and coached special-need athletes; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her father, John Robert Martin; her step-father, Robert Otterson; her sister, Linda Martin Geer; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Martin; and her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Wilkinson; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Foder is survived by her husband, Anthony; her mother, Virginia Otterson; her sons, Ryan and Kyle; her sisters, Sandy Hoskins and husband, Sam, Judy Lewis, Judy Jackson and husband, Tom, Becky Bennett, Brenda Otterson and husband, Michael Vaughan, and Delores Otterson and husband, Paul Lawrence; her brother Robert Otterson II; her sister-in-law, Janet Jones and husband, Andy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Nancy Foder; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nancy Foder as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
