SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John J. Deutsch of Waukegan, who passed away on January 8, 2008; and

WHEREAS, John Deutsch was born on April 4, 1948 in Chicago; his parents were John and Lillian Deutsch; he married Janet Ogilvie on July 9, 1977 in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, John Deutsch served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War; he received a Purple Heart for injuries he suffered during the conflict; and

WHEREAS, John Deutsch was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad for 34 years; he planned to retire from his position in April of 2008; and

WHEREAS, John Deutsch was an avid train collector; he also enjoyed NASCAR and crossword puzzles; and

WHEREAS, John Deutsch was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, John Deutsch is survived by his wife, Janet; his daughter, Lt. Jaclyn "Jackie" Deutsch; his son, John "Jay" Deutsch II; his brother, Thomas (Diane) Deutsch; his sisters, Edna (David) Sullivan and Pamela Deutsch; and his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John Deutsch; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John J. Deutsch as an expression of our sympathy.
