SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donald W. Chapman of Peoria, who passed away on March 21, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Donald W. Chapman was born January 22, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Daniel and Minnie (Swank) Chapman; he married Nancy Riedlinger on April 10, 1954, in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Donald Chapman was a Korean War Marine veteran; he worked at Keystone Steel & Wire Company in Bartonville for 30 years, retiring in 1981; he was a member of the Bartonville Lions Club, Faith Missionary Church, and was a member and officer with the Independent Steel Workers Union; and

WHEREAS, He was very active in his community, especially when his children were young; he loved gardening, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Robert Chapman; and his sisters, Karen Chapman and Margaret Jones; and

WHEREAS, Donald Chapman is survived by his wife, Nancy; his daughter, Debra (Toby) Jones; his son, Dave (Karen) Chapman; his grandchildren, Kristen, Kelsey, and Katy Chapman and MacKenzie Jones; his great-grandson, Matthew Jones; his sister, Janet (Jim) Sherlock; and his mother-in-law, Lucille Riedlinger; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Donald W. Chapman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donald Chapman as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
