SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kerry R. Sheridan of Shorewood, who passed away on February 12, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He served as the Fire Chief of the Troy Fire Protection District for the past 48 years; he was a member of the Will County Board, serving since 1982; he was President of the Will County Forest Preserve District, Chairman of the Will County Local Emergency Planning Committee, a member of the Illinois Fire Chief's Association, and a member of the Joliet Junior College Fire Science Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Sheridan was also a member of V.F.W. Post 1080 and the Elks Lodge #296; he was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps; and he was considered a Founding Father of the Volunteer Fire Department in Troy Township; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond J. and Dorothy M. Sheridan; and

WHEREAS, Kerry R. Sheridan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna M. Sheridan (nee Frederking); his two daughters, Diane McLelland and Patricia Sheridan; his two grandchildren, Kerry and Colin McLelland; his brother, John F. (LaVonne) Sheridan; as well as several nephews and nieces; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful community, the passing of Kerry R. Sheridan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kerry R. Sheridan as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
