SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert M. "Bob" Treece of West Frankfort, who passed away on January 30, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Robert Treece was born on July 8, 1924; his parents were Rolla M. and Ola B. (Garrison) Treece; he married his high school and college sweetheart, LaDonne Weaver, on February 25, 1950; and

WHEREAS, Robert Treece graduated from West Frankfort High School in 1942; he attended college at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, graduating with a bachelor's degree in zoology; he was a member of the Chi Delta Chi fraternity; and

WHEREAS, Robert Treece went into business with his father at Treece Lumber, where he worked until his retirement; upon taking over the business, Robert changed the name to Treece Supply and later to Treece Decorating; the original family business was established in 1913 and remained open until the summer of 2004; and

WHEREAS, Robert Treece was an active member in his community; he had served as president of the West Frankfort Jaycees and was an active member of the West Frankfort Community Council; and

WHEREAS, Robert Treece was saved and baptized at the First Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Robert Treece had a passion for music and loved to play the flute; he was a member of the Southern Illinois Concert Band; he also loved family gatherings, his friends, and fishing; and

WHEREAS, Robert Treece was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Donna Lynn Treece Speer; his sister, Lenorrah (Pat) Brin; and his brother, Rolla Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Robert Treece will be missed by his wife of 57 years, LaDonne; his children, Marsha Hogan and Richard Treece; his son-in-law, Allen Speer; his grandchildren, Chris and Matt Hogan, Laura Duckworth, and Robby and David Speer; his sisters-in-law, Geraldine and Robert Kelley, Joann Williams, and Marilyn Paulk; and his many nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Robert Treece will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a kind and loving husband, father, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend whose good sense of humor brought joy into the lives of everyone he knew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert M. "Bob" Treece; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert M. "Bob" Treece as an expression of our sympathy.
