SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Peter Cunneen, who passed away on
4 February 4, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Peter Cunneen received his Bachelor of Science
6 degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences from George Williams
7 College and his Master of Science degree in Human Service
8 Administration from Spertus College of Judaica; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Peter Cunneen had a long and distinguished career
10 in human services; at age 14, he worked at Camp Pompeii during
11 the summer; after working 12-hour days 5 days a week for 3
12 months, he was paid $25, the beginning of his lifelong career;
13 he went on to work at the Christopher House, a settlement house
14 in Chicago, for 11 years; he also was the executive director of
15 Little Brothers/Friends of the Elderly for 2 years; and
 
16     WHEREAS, Peter Cunneen served as the executive director of
17 The Bridge Youth and Family Services, a comprehensive youth
18 service agency serving Palatine Township and northwest Cook
19 County, for 22 years; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Peter Cunneen was an active member of his
21 community; he served on the Community Consolidated School

1 District 15 Advisory Council on Educational Excellence, the
2 Northwest Community Healthcare Community Services Committee,
3 the Illinois Collaboration on Youth - Youth Network Council
4 Policy Board, and Human Care Council of 2020 Northwest; and he
5 served as a board member and chair of the Standards of
6 Excellence Committee of The Giving Trust; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Peter Cunneen was the beloved husband of Darlene;
8 the loving father of Sean Michael (Elizabeth); the devoted
9 grandfather of Evelyn Grace; the cherished son of Grace and the
10 late Michael A. Cunneen; the fond brother of Michael J. (Carol)
11 and Susan (Nick) Steinbach; and the loving uncle and
12 great-uncle of many; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of Peter Cunneen; and be it
16 further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Peter Cunneen as an expression of
19 our sympathy.
