SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Betty A. Ahrens, formerly of Rolling Meadows, who passed away on February 3, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Betty Ahrens moved to Rolling Meadows with her husband, former Rolling Meadows Mayor William D. Ahrens, in 1960, only five years after the city's incorporation; she was Mr. Ahrens' main supporter when he ran for a seat on the city council and for his run for mayor of Rolling Meadows in 1979; she attended all public functions with her husband, from social gatherings to parades and dedication ceremonies; after Mayor Ahrens resigned in 1990, the couple retired to Florida, where she remained until her death; and

WHEREAS, Betty Ahrens and her husband made many lasting friends in Rolling Meadows and regularly gathered on Sundays to watch football games together; and

WHEREAS, Betty Ahrens was the wife of William D. Ahrens; the mother of Debra (Joseph) Stoltman, Linda (Paul) Posco, William Jr. (Laura), Pamela Ahrens, and Betty Ann Suchala; the grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 2; and the sister of Patricia Behenna, Joan (Carl) Pfisterer, and the late Richard Mc Kee; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Betty Ahrens; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Betty Ahrens as an expression of our sympathy.
