SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carla Marquita (Harvey) Gomez of Elgin, who passed away on January 26, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Carla Gomez was born on March 14, 1953 in Longview, Texas; she was the daughter of Carl and Jackie Harvey; she married Keith Anthony Gomez on August 14, 1973; and

WHEREAS, Carla Gomez was raised in Wascom, Texas until 3rd grade, when her family moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she graduated from Central High School in 1971; she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior in 1975 at Central Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and

WHEREAS, Carla Gomez was preceded in death by her father, Carl Harvey; and

WHEREAS, Carla Gomez is survived by her husband, Keith A. Gomez, pastor of Northwest Bible Baptist Church in Elgin; her mother, Jackie, and her stepfather, Thomas McFee; her sons, Jason (Rhonda) Gomez and Josh Gomez; her daughter, Ashley (John) Martin; her brother, Lee (Gail) Harvey; her stepsisters, Cindy (William) Goodwin and Debbie Sandrie; her father-in-law, Walter (Marie) Gomez; and her grandchildren, Kayla, Tyler, and Kylie; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Carla Marquita (Harvey) Gomez; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carla Gomez as an expression of our sympathy.
