SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Frederick H. Uhlig of Chillicothe, who passed away on January 13, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig was born on December 30, 1946 in Peoria; he was the son of Henry "Pop" and Ruth (McDowell) Uhlig; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig was a 1964 graduate of Richwoods High School in Peoria; after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June 1964; he served in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1968; and

WHEREAS, In 1970, Frederick Uhlig graduated from Sangamon State College in Springfield with a degree in Political Science, which led him into a career with the State of Illinois, where he served as a legislative liaison, the deputy director of the Department of Transportation, and deputy director of the Department of Public Health; he later obtained his M.B.A. from Harvard University; he worked as a regional health officer for the Illinois Department of Public Health at the time of his passing; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig served as a political adviser to several local and statewide political officials; he served on the Chillicothe School Board from 1999 until 2003; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig was a member of the Chillicothe Optimist Club and was active in the Chillicothe Summer Theater, where he served as director for several productions; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig enjoyed playing his guitar for a band called the Redneck Mothers; he also took enjoyment in restoring and rebuilding British MGs; he loved New Orleans, Jimmy Buffett, karaoke, and being with friends; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Uhlig is survived by his son, Brent Uhlig; his half brothers, William Diez and Charles Diez; his half sister, Beverly; his cousin, Susan Uhlig; and his special friend, Susan Coffman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Frederick H. Uhlig; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Frederick H. Uhlig as an expression of our sympathy.
