SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Alfred "Shorty" Hurndon, Jr. of Waukegan, who passed away on December 15, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Alfred "Shorty" Hurndon, Jr. was the son of the late Alfred and Sarah Bledsoe Hurndon, and was born January 6, 1931 in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from Waukegan Township High School and lived in Waukegan all his life; and

WHEREAS, In his younger years he was a prodigy of the late Doctor Eugene King of Waukegan; he retired from American Steel and Wire and the State of Illinois Tollway Authority; and he served his country in the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Little Fort Elks in North Chicago; he loved to meet with his friends early every morning at McDonalds for coffee and chat; and

WHEREAS, Alfred Hurndon, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Shirlene Fisher; and his late wife, Ophelia Hurndon; and

WHEREAS, He leaves to cherish his memory a special friend, Irene Jones; his three daughters, Yvonne (George) Mitchell, Gwynetta (Bruce) Nevils, and Ramelle (Gregory) Eubanks; his four grandchildren; his two nephews; and his goddaughter; a host of great-grandchildren; and many dear friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Alfred "Shorty" Hurndon, Jr. and express our sincere condolences to his family and friends at this time; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Alfred "Shorty" Hurndon, Jr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
