SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John W. Phillip of Hinsdale, who passed away on October 8, 2007; and

WHEREAS, John W. Phillip was born on June 25, 1942 in Berwyn; and

WHEREAS, John W. Phillip was a retired United States Navy captain who served in the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, John W. Phillip was the former owner of Phillip's Shoe Store in Berwyn; and

WHEREAS, John W. Phillip was a discussion leader in Bible study fellowship at his church; he also taught Bible study at the Cook County jail; and

WHEREAS, John W. Phillip is survived by his wife, Susan, nee Bendelow, Phillip; his children, Jennifer (Joel) Hutchinson, Matthew, Michael, and Mark; his brothers, George (Judy) Phillip and Allen (Kathy) Phillip; and his sister, Marie (Terry) Mann; and

WHEREAS, John W. Phillip will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as a devoted family man who was attentive to the needs of the Christian community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of John W. Phillip; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John W. Phillip as an expression of our sympathy.
