SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Dr. Felipe A. Serna of Naperville, who
4 passed away on October 6, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Dr. Felipe A. Serna was a longtime resident of
6 Naperville as well as having a winter residence in Sarasota,
7 Florida; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He graduated from the Universidad Nacional de
9 Mexico, and came to Chicago in 1957, doing his internship at
10 Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park and his
11 residency at Northwestern University-Evanston Hospital; and
 
12     WHEREAS, In 2007 he celebrated his 50th year with the
13 Illinois State Medical Society; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He served as Medical Director and Chief
15 Pathologist at Edward Hospital from 1962-1996, Deputy Corner of
16 DuPage County, and as President of Edward Hospital Medical
17 Staff; he will always be remembered as a loving, caring father,
18 brother, and friend; he loved reading, music, world travel,
19 gardening, golfing, and Florida ; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Dr. Felipe Serna will be mourned by his wife,

1 Barbara (Porch); his children, Philip (Elizabeth) Serna, Ruth
2 (Fred) Martin, and Laura (David) Smith; his grandchildren,
3 Reed, Brock, and Gabriella Serna; Chad, Natalie, and Madeline
4 Martin; Olivia, Abigail, Carson, Isabel, and Roxie Smith; and
5 his brothers, Jesus Serna, Carmen Serna de Sevilla, Carlos
6 (Donna) Serna, Aida Serna, and Armando (Lupita) Serna;
7 therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Serna; and be it
11 further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Dr. Serna as a symbol of our
14 sympathy.
