SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carmen S. DiGiovine of Naperville, who passed away on August 30, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Carmen DiGiovine was born January 1, 1942 in Joliet; he graduated from St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School in 1956, Joliet Catholic High School in 1960, and Northern Illinois University with a degree in Accountancy in 1965; and

WHEREAS, Mr. DiGiovine was co-founder and principal of DiGiovine Hnilo + Johnson Ltd. and DiGiovine Hnilo Jordan + Johnson Financial Advisors Ltd. in Naperville; he was a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Planner, and designated Certified Senior Advisor; and

WHEREAS, Mr. DiGiovine was the Past Treasurer and Board Member of the Naperville Noon Lions, Past Board Member of the Naperville Jaycees and SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Parish Council, a Charter Member of the Naperville Education Foundation, Past member of the Community Unit School District 203 Financial Task Force, Board Member and Finance Committee member of St. Patrick's Residence for the Aged and Infirmed, and Past Board Member and Charter Member of the Naperville Rotary Sunrise Club; and

WHEREAS, He provided assistance and support to the Carmelite Sisters and the Diocese of Joliet to relocate St. Patrick's Residence for the Aged and Infirmed to Naperville; he assisted at DuPage PADS, and at the SS. Peter and Paul "Light the Way" annual fundraiser; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Carmen DiGiovine will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Jane (nee Gallagher) DiGiovine; his children, Carmen (Michalle) DiGiovine, Jeanette (Todd) Gehrs, Kevin and Jordan DiGiovine; his grandchildren, Kaitlin and Olivia DiGiovine, David, Daniel, Isabella, Samuel, and Francesca Gehrs; and his brothers, Angelo (Sharon) DiGiovine and Joe DiGiovine; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Carmen DiGiovine; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carmen DiGiovine as a symbol of our sympathy.
