SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael C. Jenkins, a sergeant with twenty-seven years of service with the Illinois State Police; and

WHEREAS, Michael Jenkins was born on July 10, 1952 and departed this life on September 27, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Michael Jenkins was awarded the Purple Heart in 1992 after being injured in the line of duty; and

WHEREAS, Michael Jenkins was assigned as an instructor at the Illinois State Police Academy where he was an example for the new recruits; and

WHEREAS, Michael Jenkins acted as a mentor and role model for Illinois State Police troopers and supervisors through both his actions and his words; and

WHEREAS, Michael Jenkins was the beloved husband of Lorraine "Rainey" Jenkins, nee Hudson; he was the loving father of Robert Jenkins, Tamika Jenkins, and Tamara Jenkins; he was the loving brother of Janice, Darnella, Marsha, Clinton, and Ron Reineke; he also leaves his loving mother-in-law, Mary T. Hudson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Michael C. Jenkins; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michael C. Jenkins as a symbol of our sympathy.
