SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Michael David Genczo of New Douglas, who
4 passed away on September 11, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Michael Genczo was born on March 22, 1916, in
6 Livingston, the son of the late John and Elizabeth Hoso Genczo;
7 he married Lucille Mosser on June 21, 1941, at St. Michael's
8 Catholic Church in Staunton and she preceded him in death; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Mr. Genczo was the track superintendent at Cahokia
10 Downs Race Track in East St. Louis for over 30 years; he was
11 also a self-employed farmer; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He was a veteran of the United States Army,
13 serving during World War II as a Staff Sergeant; he was a
14 member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Staunton, a past
15 member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Livingston, and a
16 member of Laborer's Local 100 in East St. Louis; he was also a
17 card-carrying Democrat; and
 
18     WHEREAS, In addition to his parents and wife, he was
19 preceded in death by five sisters: Mary Beyer, Betty Michaels,
20 Elsie Paris, Dorothy Hunecke, and Ann Blair; and two brothers:
21 John and Steve Genczo; and

1     WHEREAS, He is survived by his daughters, Nancy Goldasich
2 and husband, Gary, Elizabeth Renner and husband, Rick, and Mary
3 Shahbazian and husband, Charlie; his grandchildren, Ronald
4 Bond Jr., Senator Michael Bond, and Megan and Eric Renner; his
5 great-grandchildren: Ethan, Georgia, Ayden, and Elliott Bond;
6 his sister, Elma Simboli; his brother, Francis Genczo and wife,
7 Lorene; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
10 his family and friends, the passing of Michael D. Genczo; and
11 be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to the family of Michael D. Genczo as a symbol of our
14 sincere sympathy.
