SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mildred Arends of Peoria, who passed away on July 28, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Arends was born on April 12, 1920 in Peoria; she was the daughter of Chester and Elsie Bauer Arends; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Arends worked as a teacher at Franklin School, but was best known as the Peoria City Treasurer for 34 years; she also worked at Space Age Travel Agency and was part-owner of Global Tours; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Arends was a member of the Peoria Historical Society, Peoria County Republican Women, Peoria Symphony Guild, and Metropolitan Opera Guild; she was also involved with Lakeview Museum and sat on the board of Neighborhood House; and she was a member of Second Church of Christ Scientist; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Arends was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Arends is survived by her sister, Shirley Schlink; her niece, Pam (Michael) Weaver; her great-nieces, Jill (Michael) Reno, Melissa Weaver, and Amy (Will) Hedden; and her great-great-nieces, Joclyn Reno, Macy Reno, and Evaline Reno; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Mildred Arends; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mildred Arends as an expression of our sympathy.
