SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald E. Ghidina of Peoria, who passed away on July 29, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina was born on February 16, 1937, in Pekin; his parents were Gene and Eileen Andersen Ghidina; he married Mary Ellen King on December 13, 1956, in Kahoka, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina will be remembered for his golfing career, most notably his 1973 Illinois State Amateur Championship, seven Peoria Men's City golf championships, and two Peoria Senior Men's City golf championships; he was inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame in 2000; and

WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina was actively involved with the Peoria Cursillo movement, TEC, and prison ministry for over 20 years; and he was active in many other charity events; and

WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina was preceded in death by his parents and his sister-in-law, Joann Goelzer; and

WHEREAS, Ronald E. Ghidina is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen; his children, Mike (Nancy) Ghidina, Marcia Ghidina, and Doug Ghidina; his granddaughters, Sarah and Ellen Ghidina; his aunts, Alice (Ernie) Svendsen and Mardell Lenox; his brother-in-law, Dick Goelzer; his nephew, Tom Goelzer; and his niece, Kathryn Goelzer; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Ronald E. Ghidina; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ronald E. Ghidina as an expression of our sympathy.
