SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Fred Ufert of Wood River, who passed away
4 on July 18, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Fred Ufert was born on October 22, 1925 in Alton;
6 his parents were Fred E. W. and Helen Claire (Elfgen) Ufert; he
7 married the former Josephine Compagno on February 7, 1948 at
8 St. Mary's Church in Alton; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Fred Ufert served 4 years with the U.S. Navy
10 during the Second World War; he was a maintenance supervisor
11 for Illinois Power for 37 years until his retirement in 1988;
12 and
 
13     WHEREAS, Fred Ufert was a lifetime member of Alton VFW Post
14 1308 and the Disabled American Veterans; he was a member of the
15 Wood River Moose and Alton American legion; he was a member and
16 past president of the Alton Eagles; and he played softball with
17 the Illinois Power and Alton Eagle teams and bowled with the
18 Alton Eagles league; he enjoyed fishing with his grandson,
19 playing card games with his family, and hunting; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Fred Ufert was preceded in death by his parents
21 and his brothers, Harold and Thomas Ufert; and

1     WHEREAS, Fred Ufert is survived by his wife; his daughter,
2 Nancy Ufert and her companion, Terry Fairless; his son, Fred
3 Ufert and his wife, Gale; his grandchildren, Troy Ufert and his
4 companion, Bethany, David Ufert and his wife, Stephanie,
5 Anthony Ufert, Michele Michelon, and Colin Overmeyer and his
6 wife, Lisa; his great-grandchildren, Randy Skiff, and Dylan,
7 Kelsey, and Dalton Overmeyer; numerous nieces and nephews; and
8 his sister-in-law, Beverly Ufert; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Fred Ufert; and be it
12 further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Fred Ufert as an expression of our
15 sympathy.
