SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elizabeth Jean "Betsy" Caprini of Clarendon Hills, formerly of Hinsdale, who passed away on June 7, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Caprini was born in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania on February 4, 1955; and

WHEREAS, She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Kentucky in 1976; in 1980 she earned her juris doctorate from Vanderbilt University; she was named best oralist of the Jessup International Moot Court Team while attending Vanderbilt; she was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1980, as well as the Trial Bar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, She was a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America; she most recently was employed with Hanson Peters Nye, where she became a partner in 2005; and

WHEREAS, She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Hinsdale, where she sang in the choir; she enjoyed tennis, traveling, reading, playing piano, and watching March Madness; and

WHEREAS, Elizabeth Caprini was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Whinery, and her brother, Andy; she is survived by her husband of 24 years, John M.; her children, Stephanie and Matthew; her father, Robert Whinery; her sisters, Pam (Ken) Knowles, Pat (Joe) Davidson, and Sharon (David) Ohrenstein; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Elizabeth Caprini; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elizabeth Caprini as a symbol of our sympathy.
