SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Specialist Jeremiah Costello of Bunker Hill, who was killed in Iraq on June 2, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Spc. Costello was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart Medal and the Bronze Star for his bravery in service; and

WHEREAS, Spc. Costello was born in Jerseyville on June 28, 1984; his parents were Larry and Debra Costello; and

WHEREAS, Spc. Costello grew up in Carlinville, but moved to Greenfield during his freshman year in high school; he earned a GED after leaving Greenfield High School during his junior year; he enlisted in the U.S. Army in July 2005, trained at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, where he was assigned to the Army's 5th Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division; his unit was deployed to Iraq in November 2006; and

WHEREAS, Spc. Costello will be remembered by all who knew him as a cheerful, mild-mannered person who loved his daughter more than anything in the world; and

WHEREAS, Spc. Costello is survived by his daughter, Lillian Angel Costello; his mother, Debra Costello; his brothers, Joel Rhodes, Darrell Titus, and Yancy and Ken Costello; his grandparents, Donald and Mary Jane Wilson, and Amelia Burger; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Specialist Jeremiah Costello; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Specialist Jeremiah Costello and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Specialist Jeremiah Costello as a symbol of our respect and sympathy .
