SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Donald E. Greer, who passed away on May
4 24, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Donald E. Greer was born June 30, 1951, in Alton
6 to Donald L. and Jean (Brinkman) Greer; he graduated from Civic
7 Memorial High School and received his bachelor's degree from
8 McKendree College and master's degree from Southern Illinois
9 University in Edwardsville; in the early 1990s he attended the
10 FBI Academy; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Donald Greer was employed in Wood River as a
12 police officer, then became police chief and city
13 administrator; he also served as the director of administration
14 for the Madison County state's attorney's office; and
 
15     WHEREAS, In June of 1990, he moved to Crestwood, Missouri,
16 where he served as police chief for 16 years, became city
17 administrator in December 2002, and left in September 2005; he
18 was city administrator in Fairview Heights for the last year;
19 and
 
20     WHEREAS, Donald Greer was preceded in death by his father;
21 and

1     WHEREAS, The passing of Donald Greer will be deeply felt by
2 all those who knew and loved him, especially his mother; his
3 former wife, Mary (Piening) Greer; their two daughters and a
4 son-in-law, Jennifer Greer and Trisha and Thomas Verstappen;
5 his grandchildren, Ava and Zoe Verstappen; his sister and
6 brother-in-law, Joni and Dr. Fred Dressen; his childhood
7 friend, Bob Oglesby; and his former wife, Myrna Homm;
8 therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
10 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
11 his family and friends, the passing of Donald E. Greer; and be
12 it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Donald E. Greer as a symbol of our
15 sympathy.
