SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to express their sorrow at learning of the death of Harry Fox of Godfrey, who passed away on January 7, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Harry Fox was born on December 31, 1918; his parents were Theodore and Nellie (Shireman) Fox; he married Ella Wood on June 25, 1940, and she preceded him in death on November 16, 1985; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fox was a veteran of the United States Army, training with "C" Company, First Battalion, 103rd Glider Infantry regiment at Camp Mackall, North Carolina; he completed Airborne training prior to joining the 17th Airborne Division, where he was stationed in England prior to his participation in the Battle of the Bulge; he later joined "L" Company of the 194th Glider Infantry regiment; after flying in a glider behind the Rhine, he was wounded in 3 occasions; Mr. Fox was honored with the Bronze Star, Purple Heart with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, and 3 Battle Stars for the Ardennes, Central Europe, and the Rhineland; Mr. Fox was also entitled to wear the European-African Middle-Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Arrowhead and the Gliderman's Badge; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fox was a pipefitter at Clark Oil Company for 38 years, retiring in 1981; and

WHEREAS, He was a lifetime member of Pipefitters Local 553, VFW Post 1308 in Alton, VFW Post 2859 in Wood River, the American Legion in Louisiana, Missouri, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Christian Church in Mozler; and

WHEREAS, Harry Fox is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Carole S. and Robert Klunk, Joan N. and Gary Greer, and Jeannie F. and Robert Fleming; his granddaughters, Michelle Brady, Rebecca Wade, Julie Krol, Lori Kampwerth, and Elizabeth Price; his great-grandchildren, Alicia Brady, Kayla and Hannah Wade, Jacob and Nicholas Darr, Isaiah Campbell, Caroline and Mary Kathleen Price, and Amberly and Caroline Krol; his brother, Kenneth Fox; and his sister, Eula Staufler; he was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his granddaughter, Sherri Fleming; his sister, Myrtle Peuterbaugh; and his brothers, Loren, Eurban, Harold "Butch", Lloyd, and Frank; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and all who knew him, the passing of Harry Fox; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harry Fox as a symbol of our sorrow at the loss of this proud veteran of World War II.
