SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Roderick Dennis Oden of Chicago, who
4 passed away on April 19, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Roderick Oden was born on June 8, 1964 to Mr. and
6 Mrs. King (Frances) Oden; Roderick Oden grew up on the south
7 side of Chicago and attended St. Leo Elementary School and St.
8 Leo High School; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Roderick Oden accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour
10 at an early age and was baptized at the Accounters Community
11 Centers of Faith in Chicago; he joined the Logos Baptist
12 Assembly in Chicago later in life; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Roderick Oden completed a Bachelor of Science
14 program in Criminal Justice at Chicago State University and
15 received a Master of Education from National Lewis University;
16 and
 
17     WHEREAS, Roderick Oden served as a substitute teacher for
18 the Chicago Board of Education, a case manager for Beatrice
19 Caffrey, and a counselor for Accounters Counseling Service; he
20 enjoyed meditating, watching movies, collecting teddy bears
21 and hats, and spending time with his dear friend, Renita; and

1     WHEREAS, Roderick Oden is survived by his parents; his
2 brother, Reginald (Shauntel) Oden; his nephews, Ryan Chase Oden
3 and Kameran Valazquez; his devoted friend, Renita Rowlett; her
4 daughters, Jill and Ayriel Rowlett, whom he loved as his own;
5 and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of Roderick Dennis Oden;
9 and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Roderick Oden as a symbol of our
12 sympathy.
