SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jeanette Eleanor (Fagan) Stried of Winthrop Harbor, who passed away on March 25, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Stried was the daughter of Delia (and James R. Fagan) and William Shebesta; she was born July 1, 1920 and lived nearly her entire life in North Chicago; she married Howard Stried on February 14, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, and they were married for 63 years; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Stried attended Holy Family Catholic Grade School in North Chicago and Waukegan Township High School; and

WHEREAS, She was a life-long member of Royal Neighbors, Chairman of the Leo Kukla Mayoral Campaign (North Chicago), and Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the city of North Chicago for many years; and

WHEREAS, Jeanette Stried was preceded in death by her husband, Howard A. Stried; her sisters, Helen Fagan, Delia (Christian) Elfert, Ruth (Joseph) Greenfield, Florence (Fredrick) Krause, Eleanor (Edward) Dolinar, and Billy Jean (Samuel) Lynch; and her brothers, Charles E. (Maxine) Fagan, James R. (Pauline) Fagan; and her great-grandson, Matthew Elliott; and

WHEREAS, She left behind many who will miss her terribly, including her daughter, Judy (John) Van Dien: her granddaughter, Johnette Van Dien; her great-granddaughter, Johnna-Marie Stried Van Dien; her grandson, John (Kathleen) Van Dien; her great-granddaughter, Madisyn Jeanette Van Dien; her great-grandsons, Andrew and Ryan Elliott; her great-granddaughter, Patricia Elliott; and her sister, Betty Jean (Curtis) Carmen; also grieving her loss are God-child, Laura Lee (Joseph) Herrington and God-grandson, Mark Herrington; her God-granddaughter, Rev. Jody Lee Herrington; her God-grandson, Christopher Herrington; her longtime best friend, Jean (Leo) Kukla; her many nieces and nephews, including, Judy (Fagan) Fojtik, Ruth (Elfert) Prais, and Professor Steven "Randy" (Carol) Lynch; and Lake County Under-Sheriff Charles Fagan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Jeanette Eleanor Stried; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jeanette Eleanor Stried as a symbol of our sympathy.
