SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Charles B. Jackson Sr., who passed away
4 on May 4, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born November 16, 1921, in the
6 Administration Building of the Western Military Academy in
7 Alton to Ralph Leroy and Mary (Borden) Jackson; and
 
8     WHEREAS, He and the former Jane Figgatt were married on
9 June 14, 1947; Charles Jackson Sr. graduated from the former
10 Western Military Academy in 1939 and continued his education at
11 Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia; and
 
12     WHEREAS, His college years were interrupted when he
13 enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps during World War
14 II and served as an officer in North Africa, Italy, and
15 Germany; after the war, he was a decorated veteran who returned
16 to Washington and Lee and graduated in 1947; he was a history
17 teacher, coach, and administrator at Western Military Academy
18 until the school closed in 1971; he taught at Civic Memorial
19 High School from 1971 until 1988, when he retired; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents and three
21 brothers, Albert, Ralph, and William Jackson; and

1     WHEREAS, The passing of Charles Jackson Sr. will be deeply
2 felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Jane;
3 his sons and their families, C.B. and Ellen Jackson and their
4 children, Matthew, Jane, David and Thomas, and Randy and Lynne
5 Jackson and their sons, Luke and Tyler; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
7 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
8 his family and friends, the passing of Charles B. Jackson Sr.;
9 and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the family of Charles B. Jackson Sr. as a symbol
12 of our sympathy.
