SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of U.S. Army Private Cole Spencer of Gays on April 28, 2007, in Salman Pak, Iraq; and

WHEREAS, Private Cole Spencer attended high school at Heritage Baptist Academy; upon his entry into the U.S. Army, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team of the 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Georgia; he was deployed to Iraq in March 2007, where he served with Task Force Marne, patrolling southeast of Baghdad; and

WHEREAS, Private Cole Spencer is survived by his parents, Mark and Candy Spencer; and his brother, Brian; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of U.S. Army Private Cole Spencer; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Private Spencer and his willingness to serve our country which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Private Cole Spencer as an expression of our sympathy.
