SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Gary L. Roan of West Frankfort, who
4 passed away on April 8, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Gary Roan was born on December 29, 1945, in
6 Louisiana, Missouri to Henry Roan and Wilma (Smashey) Roan; he
7 married Debra (Ozment) Roan on July 24, 1982; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Gary Roan spent his youth in Missouri, moving to
9 Southern Illinois in 1967; he served an apprenticeship as a
10 wireman with the International Brotherhood of Electrical
11 Workers Local Union 702, becoming a journeyman wireman on
12 October 4, 1973 and worked for various area contractors; in
13 1975, Gary became business representative for IBEW Local 702;
14 he was business manager of IBEW Local 702 from 1994 until his
15 retirement in July of 2006; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He is survived by his wife, Debra Roan; his sons,
17 James Scott Roan and wife, Jennifer, and Hank Roan; his
18 daughter, Alisha Newton and husband, Josh; his grandsons,
19 Robert Tyler Roan and Tanner Roan; his granddaughters, Rachel
20 and Katie Roan; his great-granddaughter, Riley Roan; his
21 brothers, Richard Roan and wife, Patricia, and Clayton Roan and
22 wife, Terri; his mother-in-law, Peggy Stephens; his

1 brother-in-law, the Rev. Alan Ozment and wife, Melody; his
2 several nieces and nephews; and his special cousin, Billy
3 Burbridge and wife, Lanora; he was preceded in death by his
4 parents, and a son, Stanley F. Roan; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7 his family and friends, the passing of Gary L. Roan; and be it
8 further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Gary L. Roan as an expression of our
11 sympathy.
