SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Donna J. Vonachen of Peoria, who passed away on March 25, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Donna Vonachen was born on January 30, 1937, in Peoria; her parents were C. Arthur and Edna Cramer Hurst; she married Harold A. "Pete" Vonachen Jr. on May 11, 1957, in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, She graduated from the Academy of Our Lady and attended Bradley University; she was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, the Junior League, the Country Club of Peoria, and Pi Beta Phi Sorority; and

WHEREAS, Donna Vonachen was a former member of the IVY Club; Donna was recognized as first lady of baseball in Peoria; she was an avid Chiefs fan, and kept score at every game; she loved to paint and play cards with her grandchildren and loved flower gardens; her main interest in life was her family and grandkids; and she enjoyed her winters down on Longboat Key; and

WHEREAS, Donna Vonachen was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Donna Vonachen is survived by her husband, Harold "Pete" Vonachen Jr.; her daughter, Mary (Michael) Shadid; her sons, Harold A. "Rocky" Vonachen III, Gregory (Kathy) Vonachen, Daniel (Jennifer) Vonachen, and Mark (Amy) Vonachen; her grandchildren, Megan, Lauren, Abby, Erica, Claire, Michelle, Druschel, Olivia, Jabe, Natalia and Jac; and her sisters, Mary (John) Slevin, and Janice Deane; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Donna Vonachen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Donna Vonachen as a symbol of our sympathy.
