SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David T. Murphy of Cary, who passed away on March 5, 2007; and

WHEREAS, David Murphy was born in Janesville, Wisconsin on July 6, 1929; his parents were Thomas and Elisabeth Murphy; and

WHEREAS, David Murphy was past president of the McHenry County College Board of Trustees and a trustee from 1976 through 2005; a member of the Illinois Community College Trustees Association; a past chairman of the Board of Regents-State of Illinois from 1991 to 1996; and a past president of the Lake County Council on Alcoholism; and

WHEREAS, David Murphy was a Lake Forest Academy alumnus and a Brown University alumnus; he was known statewide as an advocate of higher education; and

WHEREAS, David Murphy was preceded in death by his wife, Constance B. Murphy; and

WHEREAS, David Murphy is survived by his children, Karen (David) Garrett, Elizabeth (Peter) Stamos, and Robert (Debra) Murphy; and his grandchildren, George Stamos, Lauren Stamos, Gina Murphy, Lillian Murphy, and Cecilia Murphy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of David T. Murphy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David T. Murphy as a symbol of our sympathy.
