SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert E. "Bob" Jordan of Naperville, who passed away on December 15, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Jordan was born on April 2, 1952 in Aurora; his parents were Clifford and Annie (nee Schmidt) Jordan; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Jordan received his bachelor's degree in Latin from North Central College and his bachelor's degree in Spanish from Northern Illinois University, where he also earned his master's degree; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Jordan was a former teacher in the West Aurora School District; at the time of his passing, he was working with students in a District 203 transitional program to help students move from school into the work force; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Jordan was an active and devoted member of the Naperville Noon Lions Club after transferring from the Big Rock Lions Club in 1992; he served as Raffle Chairman and Social Services Chairman, where he was instrumental in increasing the budget to over fifty thousand dollars per year; he also served as a board member and as club President from 1988 until 1992; he was a very active promoter of the Lions Ski for Sight Program, attending many area zone and club meetings to raise funds for the program, and was always willing to participate in any and all of the clubs fundraising activities; he was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 2001, the Lions highest honor, in recognition of his devotion to the Lions Club and was the first member of the club to receive the Lions District 1-J, George Lazansky award; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Jordan was an active participant in the Organ Transplant Support and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, where his life long struggle with diabetes and his sense of humor served as an inspiration to those in need; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Jordan was an active member of St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Naperville, where he participated in CHRP, Men's Bible Study, and the greeting and reading at services; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Jordan was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Robert E. Jordan is survived by his wife, Peggy Martin Jordan; his daughter, Jenny (Thomas) Lemmons; his children, Grace, Victor, and Rosie Yaguchi; his granddaughters, Savannah and Madison Lemmons; his sister, Kathy (Chuck) Lesnik; his nieces, Liz (Paul) Stein and Natalie (Todd) Buelow; and his special cousin, Dale (Andrea) Burchfield; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Robert E. Jordan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert E. Jordan as an expression of our sympathy.
