SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The erosion of jobs in the United States due to
3 outsourcing is at a critical all time high; and
 
4     WHEREAS, The loss of high-technology Aerospace jobs is
5 destroying this Nation's ability to design, fabricate, and
6 assemble the products needed to defend itself; and
 
7     WHEREAS, The current administration in Washington D.C. has
8 elected to wage war in foreign lands; and
 
9     WHEREAS, The global war on terrorism has changed the needs
10 of our military and stretched our resources thin; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The continued production of the C-17 Globemaster
12 III, a transport aircraft capable of meeting the needs of our
13 Nation's uniformed men and women, is being shutdown; and
 
14     WHEREAS, The United States needs additional modern
15 aircraft capable of meeting the needs of Future Combat Systems,
16 current strategic and tactical missions, humanitarian
17 missions, and other requirements placed on our military; and
 
18     WHEREAS, The current plan to upgrade older, less reliable
19 C-5's will not fully meet our Nation's needs; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
2 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
3 CONCURRING HEREIN, that we stand in support of legislation at
4 the federal level to procure additional C-17 Globemasters
5 beyond the current 190 approved; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That by supporting such legislation, the General
7 Assembly of Illinois goes on record as saying the erosion of
8 jobs in the United States must end; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That the need to support our uniformed men and
10 women protecting our freedoms and lands must be given due
11 priority by our elected representatives in Washington D.C; and
12 be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to each member of the Illinois congressional
15 delegation.
