SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, WHEREAS, Operation Hero Miles donates free round-trip tickets to military families in need; and

WHEREAS, Fisher House, a non-profit foundation, administers the Operation Hero Miles program and has provided more than 7,500 airline tickets worth more than 10 million dollars; and

WHEREAS, Thousands of Illinois servicemen and servicewomen are currently on active duty around the world; and

WHEREAS, Family members of injured servicemen and servicewomen often need to fly at short notice to be at their injured relatives' bedside; and

WHEREAS, Participants in most frequent flyer programs can donate miles to Operation Hero Miles; and

WHEREAS, Illinois State employees earn frequent flyer miles that can be donated to Operation Hero Miles; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that we encourage all residents of Illinois including State employees to donate generously to the Operation Hero Miles program.
