SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
5 ILCS 190/1   from Ch. 123, par. 1

    Amends the Seat of Government Act. Prohibits the expenditure of State moneys for the lease, purchase, construction, or remodeling of an office or facility located outside Springfield to be used for the conduct of State business except as authorized by a specific appropriation that identifies the location and the State business. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Seat of Government Act is amended by
5 changing Section 1 as follows:
 
6     (5 ILCS 190/1)  (from Ch. 123, par. 1)
7     Sec. 1. That the seat of government shall continue to be at
8 Springfield, in the County of Sangamon, at which place all acts
9 shall be done which are required to be done at the seat of
10 government: Provided, that they may be done at some other
11 place, to be designated by the Governor, when it is necessary
12 in consequence of pestilence or public danger.
13     No State moneys may be expended for the lease, lease
14 extension, purchase, construction, or renovation of an office
15 or other facility located outside of Springfield to be used for
16 the conduct of State business pursuant to a lease or contract
17 entered into on or after the effective date of this amendatory
18 Act of the 95th General Assembly except as authorized by a
19 specific appropriation that identifies the location of the
20 office or facility and the State business to be conducted
21 there.

1     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
2 becoming law.
