    Amends the Counties Code. Repeals Sections creating and establishing the Board of the Department of Corrections. Provides that the Sheriff shall appoint the Director of the Department of Corrections with the advice and consent of the county board (instead of from a list of nominations by the Board of the Department of Corrections).

1     AN ACT concerning local government.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

6     (55 ILCS 5/3-15006 rep.)
7     (55 ILCS 5/3-15007 rep.)
8     (55 ILCS 5/3-15008 rep.)
9     (55 ILCS 5/3-15009 rep.)
10     (55 ILCS 5/3-15010 rep.)
11     (55 ILCS 5/3-15011 rep.)
12     Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by repealing
13 Sections 3-15004, 3-15005, 3-15006, 3-15007, 3-15008, 3-15009,
14 3-15010, and 3-15011.
 
15     Section 10. The Counties Code is amended by changing
16 Section 3-15012 as follows:
 
17     (55 ILCS 5/3-15012)  (from Ch. 34, par. 3-15012)
18     Sec. 3-15012. Director. The Sheriff shall appoint a
19 Director to act as the chief executive and administrative
20 officer of the Department. The Director shall be appointed by
21 the Sheriff with the advice and consent of the county board
22 from a list of 3 persons nominated by the members of the Board.

1 He or she shall serve at the pleasure of the Sheriff. If the
2 Director is removed, the Sheriff shall appoint his or her
3 replacement with the advice and consent of the county board the
4 Board shall nominate 3 persons, one of whom shall be selected
5 by the Sheriff to serve as Director. The Director's
6 compensation is determined by the County Board.
