HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ernestine Irene Martinez on her eightieth birthday, December 15, 2007; and

WHEREAS, She was born on December 15, 1927 to Maria and Jose Martinez; she graduated from Thomas Jefferson Grade School and Farragut High School in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, In May of 1954 she married Joseph Mendoza and was widowed in 1971; from this union were born Elizabeth Yolanda and David Thomas Mendoza; she married Eloy Herrera in 1981 and was widowed in 1992; and

WHEREAS, She is the proud grandmother of Thomas David Mendoza and Jennifer Marie Mendoza; and

WHEREAS, Ernestine Martinez has been an accomplished pianist since the age of 6; she worked as a legal secretary for the firm of Hinshaw, Culbertson, Moelman, Hoban, and Fuller; and

WHEREAS, She is a member in good standing with the Cordl-Marian Settlement house, the M&M Society, the Mexican-American Business and Professional Women's Club, and the Girl Scouts of Chicago; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ernestine Martinez on this occasion and wish her the best in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ernestine Martinez as a symbol of our respect.
