HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize the citizens of
4 Greenville on receiving the Governor's Home Town Award for
5 2007; the awards banquet will be held November 27, 2007 at the
6 Crowne Plaza Hotel in Springfield; and
 
7     WHEREAS, The Greenville Women's Club was officially formed
8 in 1974 and became an extension of the city in making decisions
9 concerning the renovation and restoration of downtown
10 buildings; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The Greenville Women's Club has been involved in
12 city-wide beautification for over 30 years, forming a
13 Beautification Committee in 2006; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Over $9 million has been spent on city-wide
15 beautification since 1992 by Greenville's business and
16 community groups; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Numerous clubs, businesses, and volunteers helped
18 make Greenville's 5-year city-wide beautification plan a
19 reality; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The outstanding support and dedication of the

1 community has enabled the City of Greenville to paint and
2 restore businesses, plant trees and flowers, and even decorate
3 the town for the holidays; and
 
4     WHEREAS, The beautification of Greenville has been
5 described as a Norman Rockwell painting and has become an
6 inspiration for other small towns working to achieve the same
7 goals; therefore, be it
 
8     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
10 congratulate the citizens of Greenville and the Greenville
11 Women's Club on receiving the 2007 Governor's Home Town Award;
12 and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
14 presented to the City of Greenville and the Greenville Women's
15 Club as a symbol of our appreciation and respect.
