HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Susan Vaughn on receiving the 2007 Belle Greve Memorial Award; and

WHEREAS, Susan Vaughn works as a Pre-Vocational Coordinator at South Eastern Special Education; she has strived undauntedly to improve the Secondary Transitional Experience Program (STEP) for the students in a five county area serving twelve high schools; and

WHEREAS, Susan Vaughn has worked for numerous years with children with disabilities, kids that have significant behavior disabilities, and young adults developing and learning job skills; Susan has enhanced the program, where students are expected to achieve their best and often live up to those expectations; her drive and enthusiasm have expanded the number and the level of disabilities served by her program, while also expanding the services provided to those students; and

WHEREAS, Susan Vaughn presents workshops on Transition, Summary of Performance, and the STEP program; she attends State workshops gathering pertinent information to enable her to build on her knowledge; and

WHEREAS, She is co-chair of the local TPC and has spent hours working on the development of a Transition Resource Book covering the local counties; her dedication has helped students with disabilities have a more successful transition from adolescence to young adulthood; and

WHEREAS, The Belle Greve Memorial Award is presented to a person who has shown unusual initiative or creativity in developing and/or administering a service program for people with disabilities; the award is named for Belle Greve, founder of the Cleveland Rehabilitation Center; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Susan Vaughn on receiving the 2007 Belle Greve Memorial Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Susan Vaughn as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
