HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Fire Chief Timothy E. Sashko of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Chief Timothy E. Sashko joined the Buffalo Grove Fire Department in 1979 as a Paid, On-Call Firefighter; in May of 1981 he attained paramedic status with the Northwest Community Hospital, and in July of 1981 he was sworn in as a full time paid Firefighter/Paramedic; and

WHEREAS, He served in that capacity until August of 1989 when he was sworn in as a Fire Lieutenant; in May of 1990 he was promoted to the rank of Fire Captain and in November of 1996 to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief; in 1999, through Southern Illinois University, Chief Sashko attained his Bachelor's Degree; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Sashko was sworn in as Fire Chief in May of 2002; throughout his career he received many certificates and many letters of praise; he received a commendation from the Village of Buffalo Grove in July, 1986, when he was placed in the position of Acting Lieutenant and was first responder at a structure fire at the Windbrooke Apartment complex, where he performed his job perfectly; and

WHEREAS, Chief Sashko is a member of the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association, the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, the Lake County Fire Chiefs Association, the International Fire Chiefs Association, and MABAS Division 4; he is a liaison to the Northwest Central Dispatch Center System and their Budget Committee; and

WHEREAS, Chief Sashko has received two major accolades, the Buffalo Grove High Schools' Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002, and Fire Chief of the Year in 2006 from the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Fire Chief Timothy E. Sashko of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department on his retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Timothy E. Sashko as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
