HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Mary Ellen "Mimi" Reitemeier of Danville on being named a recipient of the Women of Distinction Award presented by the Girl Scouts Green Meadows Council; and

WHEREAS, Women of Distinction are recognized for outstanding leadership and service to their community and/or profession, while serving as role models for young girls by living the Girl Scout Law; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Reitemeier is a charter member of the Danville Area Arts Council and Arts in the Park; she is a founding member of the Danville Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Guild, and has been active in both the Orchestra and the Danville Symphony Orchestra Foundation; and

WHEREAS, She helped the Danville Symphony Orchestra bring music to the youth of the community through educational youth concerts, competitions, and essay contests; she was awarded a Directors Emeriti title in 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Reitemeier was a volunteer at Lakeview Hospital for many years, where she helped to raise money and start programs for the Intensive Care Nursery, well baby clinics, new parent classes, and babysitting classes; and

WHEREAS, She has also served on the Salvation Army Women's Board, and worked with the annual Festival of Trees, raising money for Provena United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Mary Ellen Reitemeier gave her Brownie and Girl Scout pins to her granddaughter but plans to borrow them for the awards ceremony; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mary Ellen "Mimi" Reitemeier on being named a recipient of the Women of Distinction Award presented by the Girl Scouts Green Meadows Council; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mary Ellen Reitemeier as a symbol of our respect.
