HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
3 cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
4 that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for the
5 people of the State of Illinois; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Harold and Velma Grotefendt of Marine were married
7 on October 16, 1947 at the Marine United Church of Christ; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Harold and Velma Grotefendt are the proud parents
9 of Rande (wife, Judy) Brad, and Dale (wife, Kay) Grotefendt;
10 and
 
11     WHEREAS, They are the proud grandparents of Jill (husband,
12 Philip) Maud, Kathy (husband, Robert) Prince, Cindy
13 Grotefendt, Ty Grotefendt, and Michelle Grotefendt; and
 
14     WHEREAS, They are the blessed great-grandparents of Peter
15 John Maud; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
17 highest plateaus when a couple such as Harold and Velma
18 celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Harold and Velma stand as examples of the best of

1 our society, and their love and devotion to each other and to
2 their family and friends serve as a reminder to all that hard
3 work, dedication, and love can make a difference in today's
4 world; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7 congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Harold Grotefendt on the occasion of
8 their sixtieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
9 achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children and
10 grandchildren, and rich in friendships; and that we wish them
11 happiness and good health in the future; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Harold and Velma Grotefendt as a symbol of our
14 respect and esteem.
