HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael Falese on the occasion of his retirement as Fire Chief of the Elgin Fire Department on August 31, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Prior to his career with the Elgin Fire Department, Michael Falese worked for the West Dundee Fire Department; he began his career with the Elgin Fire Department on December 12, 1983; he rose steadily through the ranks, being promoted to Lieutenant in August 1990; he was promoted to Captain in February 1995, then to Deputy Chief in April 2000; he was promoted to Fire Chief on November 24, 2003, where he remained until his retirement on August 31, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Michael Falese was instrumental in starting the Elgin Fire Department's "Right To Know" program in 1984; and he has been actively involved in diversity recruitment for the Elgin Fire Department and with the construction of the department's Fire Stations 7 and 8; and

WHEREAS, Michael Falese received his master's degree in Public Administration from Northern Illinois University in 2001; and

WHEREAS, Michael Falese was the recipient of the Firefighter/Paramedic of the Year Award in 1986; and he was the recipient of Department Unit Citations in 1996 and 2000 for his work; and

WHEREAS, Michael Falese has also been an active participant in his community; he has been the president of the Elgin Classic Little League for several years; and he is a board member with the Elgin City Employees Credit Union; and

WHEREAS, Michael Falese's dedication to his profession and his willingness to serve his community make him a model for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Chief Michael Falese on his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Michael Falese as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
