HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, James Clancy and Ann Dower were married on September 14, 1957 at St Patrick's Church in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Ann Dower was raised in Springfield, where she attended Ursuline Academy; she was employed by Illinois Circuit Breaker; and she has been a loving mother of 5 children; and

WHEREAS, James Clancy was born in Taylorville and raised in Springfield; he was employed for the Illinois Secretary of State for 32 years, working in the Data Processing department; and he has been a loving father of 5 children; and

WHEREAS, The newly married Mr. and Mrs. Clancy settled on Springfield's south side, where they have been involved in church and family values their entire married lives; and

WHEREAS, Ann Clancy became a homemaker and raised their five children, Shannon (Larry) Johnson, Colleen (William) Aeppli, Kathleen (Donald) Moles, Maureen, and James; and

WHEREAS, James and Ann Clancy are the proud grandparents of 9 grandchildren, Sarah, Kimberly, Sean, Ryan, Robyn, Eric, Crystal, Dustin, and Autumn; and

WHEREAS, James and Ann Clancy have always lived life to the fullest; they enjoy big band music and ballroom dancing; they love to travel, create beautiful landscaping around their home, tour garage sales, and share their family genealogy of Ireland; and

WHEREAS, James and Ann Clancy are extremely proud of their Irish heritage, having traced their roots back to the 1300's, and have been involved in political activities for many years; and

WHEREAS, James and Ann Clancy are now retired; James still enjoys being a doorman for the Illinois House of Representatives, and retains his position as the Secretary/Treasurer for the State Retirement System; Ann remains active with landscaping, poetry, finding great items hidden in family summer sales, and planning social events; above all, they enjoy their family and spending time together, as recently shown on a family trip in June 2007 to Walt Disney World for their children, spouses, and grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate James and Ann Clancy on the celebration of their golden anniversary; that we commend them for achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children, grandchildren and rich in friendships; and that we wish them happiness and good health in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to James and Ann Clancy as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
