HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The students of School District 28 in Northbrook are hosting a "Concert for Africa" on February 9, 2007, to raise money for the construction of a girls' high school in Kenya; and

WHEREAS, Over the past three years, the students of School District 28 have been committed to helping African students; and

WHEREAS, Through a variety of fundraisers, the students have raised money for students who attend the Spurgeons School in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya; and

WHEREAS, The students of School District 28 are now focused on helping to build a high school for girls who live in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya; and

WHEREAS, The school, located in the Kenyan countryside, will allow girls to continue their education beyond the eighth grade; and

WHEREAS, Students will learn valuable skills that will allow them to become independent and escape the cycle of poverty; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the efforts of the students of School District 28 in Northbrook for their compassion and dedication to helping others; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the students of School District 28 in Northbrook as an expression of our esteem.
