HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bob Payne of
4 Georgetown on having his songs accepted by TAXI, an independent
5 artist and repertoire company in California that screens music
6 for major labels; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Bob Payne has submitted more than 60 songs during
8 the last year; major record companies do not accept unsolicited
9 material, fearing copyright infringement and possible
10 lawsuits, so TAXI listens, rates, and decides if the music is
11 good enough to send to a major label; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Bob Payne had two country songs and three country
13 gospel songs accepted by TAXI; and
 
14     WHEREAS, In March of 2007 he accepted an award from the
15 North American Country Music Association for country gospel; he
16 has previously won for both country and country gospel; in June
17 of 2007 he won the Illinois Country Music Awards Show award for
18 country songwriter for his song "My Heartache Could Be Healed
19 By You"; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He received the Pioneer Trophy in 2005 for
21 promoting country music for over 25 years, and takes the most

1 pride in this award; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Bob Payne performed Christmas skits with then
3 Lieutenant John F. Kennedy while serving in the United States
4 Navy during World War II; and
 
5     WHEREAS, During his fifty-year career he has written 600
6 songs, with more than 60 winning awards; he has written a
7 cookbook, is friends with many country and western artists, and
8 continues to bring Nashville artists to churches in the area;
9 therefore, be it
 
10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12 congratulate Bob Payne for receiving the recognition he
13 deserves; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Bob Payne as a symbol of our respect and
16 admiration.
