HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Indian Valley Theatre in Sandwich, celebrating its 25th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1982 with a start-up donation from the American Association of University Women, Indian Valley Theatre (IVT) began in the basement of what is now Castle Bank; the first production, Hansel and Gretel, was put on at Plano's Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Indian Valley Theatre is a voluntary organization with 100 members serving throughout the community; and

WHEREAS, Indian Valley Theatre produces several shows a year, as well as offering two children's drama workshops at the Sandwich Opera House and melodramas at the Sandwich Fair; and

WHEREAS, The children's theatre workshop has over 250 children that participate each year; and

WHEREAS, Indian Valley Theatre will stage a production of "The Music Man" in the Spring of 2007; and

WHEREAS, Indian Valley Theatre dramatic productions stimulate human emotions, inspire and entertain audiences, thus enriching and making the community a better place to work and live; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the staff and players of Indian Valley Theatre on the 25th anniversary of the performing arts center and wish them continued good success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the President of Indian Valley Theatre, Sue Johnson.
