HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Monica Lehotan on her retirement as Assistant Principal of Nightingale Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, Monica Lehotan has served the children of the Chicago Public Schools for 34 years; she has taught children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade; she began her teaching career at Brenneman Elementary School; she has also at McCormick Elementary School, Davis School, and Nightingale School; she has served on many school committees and has represented the teachers on the Local School Council during its beginning years; she has also worked as Bilingual Lead Teacher, turning around the bilingual program to one that truly focuses on what is in the best interest of the children of Nightingale School; she has served as Nightingale School's assistant principal for 15 years; and

WHEREAS, Monica Lehotan has served as a cohesive force between parents and the schools she has represented; she has organized parent committees, parent training, and translation services to ensure that all parents involved felt that they were an integral part of the school's affairs; and

WHEREAS, Monica Lehotan has presented at the Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages Conference; she has authored many winning grants which have provided additional funds and programs for the students under her direction; and

WHEREAS, Monica Lehotan has been married to Jim Lehotan for 38 wonderful years; she has two children, Krissy and Peter; she has a wonderful grandchild, Alex; she is the loving daughter of Mercedes and Dario Landazuri; and she is the devoted sister of Margarita, Gabriel, David, Roberto, and Maria Laura; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Monica Lehotan on her retirement and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Monica Lehotan as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
