HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to congratulate the Lincoln Trail College Lady Statesmen for winning the NJCAA Region 24 Softball Tournament on May 5 and 6, 2007; and

WHEREAS, The Lady Statesmen won three of four games over the weekend of May 5 and 6 in Robinson to capture the title, ending with a 28-18 record; Lincoln Trail College opened play with a 5-4 win over Wabash Valley, followed by a 7-5 win over Lake Land; on May 6, LTC lost to Rend Lake 6-5, but rebounded to beat Rend Lake 6-1 in the second game to capture the title; and

WHEREAS, Ashley Gordon, a Hutsonville High School graduate, smacked her third home run of the weekend for the Lady Statesmen and was named tournament MVP; head coach Shannon Emmons was also named Coach of the Year after the tournament; and

WHEREAS, The Lincoln Trail College Lady Statesmen are Michaela Dermanelian, Kacie DeWeese, Audrey Kress, Jennifer Bartley, Ashley Sankey, Alison Spalding, Meagan Swan, Jessica Hamilton, Ashley Gordon, Shanna Seegraves, Meghan Price, Bryn Boren, and Courtney Baldwin; the head coach is Shannon Emmons and the assistant coach is Carmen Montgomery; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Lincoln Trail College Lady Statesmen for winning the NJCAA Region 24 Softball Tournament and wish the players and coaches continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to head coach Shannon Emmons, assistant coach Carmen Montgomery, and the Lady Statesmen players as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
