HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Robert D. Franz on
4 the occasion of his retirement as Deerfield Village Manager;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Robert D. Franz was born on September 24, 1946; he
7 is married and has five children; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Robert D. Franz graduated from Loras College in
9 Dubuque, Iowa in 1968 and received his Masters Degree in Public
10 Administration from Northern Illinois University in 1973; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Robert D. Franz was an Administrative Intern in
12 the Department of Urban Renewal for the City of Chicago in
13 1968; he served in the U.S. Army with the Military Police from
14 1968 to 1970; he was an Intern/Administrative
15 Assistant/Assistant Manager in Elk Grove Village from 1970 to
16 1975; he was Manager in Hazel Crest from 1975 to 1979; he has
17 served as Deerfield's Village Manager from 1979 until his
18 retirement; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Robert D. Franz received the Manager of the Year
20 Award in 1996 and 2007 from the Illinois Association of
21 Municipal Management Assistants; he also was named Man of the

1 Year by the Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods Chamber of
2 Commerce in 2006; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Robert D. Franz has been involved with the
4 American Society of Public Administration and the
5 International City/County Management Association; he was the
6 President of the Illinois City Management Association from 1996
7 to 1997 and President of the Metro Managers Association from
8 1984 to 1985; therefore, be it
 
9     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
11 congratulate Robert D. Franz on his retirement, thank him for
12 his many years of public service, and wish him continued
13 success and happiness in the future; and be it further
 
14     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15 presented to Robert D. Franz as a symbol of our esteem and
16 respect.
